Welcome to Kestrel

This section is for people using Kestrel — dispatchers, patrol/fire/EMS staff, civilians, and the community owners who set it up. If you're building your own integration against Kestrel's API instead of using the official FiveM resources, see the API Reference.

The three ways you'll touch Kestrel

Community owners and department admins also get an admin console for setup and day-to-day staff/department management — see Setting Up Your Community.

Linking your FiveM account

Before any in-game command or the MDT will work for you, your game client has to be linked to your Kestrel account once:

  1. In the Kestrel web app, go to Account Settings → Link FiveM Account and copy the code shown.

  2. In-game, run:

    /kestrellink <code>

You only need to do this once per account/server pairing. If you play a cop character and a civilian character on the same server, link whichever character is active at the time — Kestrel tracks status and permissions per active character, not per account, so switching characters in-game switches which record you're acting as.

Going on duty

Most staff commands and the MDT require you to be linked and on duty. How you go on duty depends on how your server is set up:

  • QBCore servers — use QBCore's own /duty command.

  • ESX and standalone servers (or any ESX server not running esx_service/esx_duty) — use:

    /kestrelduty

This also lets you drop off duty for roleplay purposes without losing your job, then come back on later.

Going off duty while you're still attached to an open call requires you (or a supervisor) to resolve it first — Kestrel won't let a unit vanish off a live call silently.

No command needed for a few things

Once you're linked and on duty, your live position, your GPS waypoint when dispatch assigns you a call, and (if your server has it configured) your radio signal strength all update automatically in the background — see Officer Field Guide for what those look like.
